GHG SHORT DEVOTIONALS - 8 (GOD HAS PREPARED GREATER THINGS FOR YOU)

Matthew 15:22-28

One day a Canaanite woman came to Jesus and cried out to Him to heal her daughter who is suffering terribly.

Jesus replied that it is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to someone else.
1.      You are God’s child and He has already prepared greater blessings for you.

She then asked and expected that even the crumbs that fall from the table will be sufficient.
Then Jesus answered and said to her, "O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire."And her daughter was healed from that very hour. (v28)

The crumbs that had fallen from the table, in which God has prepared bread for His children, healed a young girl immediately who was suffering terribly.

2.      If that crumb brings such a blessing, how much more, greater blessings will be brought into your life through the bread that God has prepared already for you in His table! All that you have to do is to enter God’s presence in faith and receive those blessings.

3.      Even today God says to you that He is already holding in His hands what you need for your future. All you have to do is to possess it.

Remember God is willing to give because it is the children’s bread and you are His child.

GHG SHORT DEVOTIONALS - 7 (GOD HAS A PURPOSE UPON YOUR LIFE)

Luke 9:53 But they did not receive Him, because His face was set for the journey to Jerusalem.

Jesus had planned to go to Jerusalem and His disciples went to a Samaritan village to prepare for Him but the people in the village did not receive Him.

1. There is always God's purpose behind closed doors, unanswered prayers and rejected relationships.

Even in your life, you might face closed paths or someone might have rejected you. God has a plan about your life. Stay in God’s presence and find God's will and go ahead according to His plan.

Luke 9:54-55 And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, "Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?"
But He turned and rebuked them, and said, "You do not know what manner of spirit you are of.

2. You are filled by God's Holy Spirit and today God doesn't want you to carry bitterness against someone who rejected you. Something might not be happening as you had expected. Do not curse yourself, your life or others for what’s happening around you.

Elijah did brought fire from heaven but what He did is according to God’s word and to bring glory to God’s name.

3. Do not use God’s calling and power for your own desires and to fulfil your will. You are called for a greater cause and obey what God asks you to do.

Jesus came to save men’s lives and not to destroy them.

4. Even today you might be facing a tough situation in your life. People might come against you for no reasons. Do not get discouraged. God will save you and lead you in His path.

GHG SHORT DEVOTIONALS - 6 (BE SUBMISSIVE TO GOD'S PLAN)

“The Angel of the Lord said to her, “Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hand.” – Genesis 16:9

Hagar despised Sarah when she became pregnant, and so Sarah begun to dealt with her harshly. Though Hagar was pregnant, she ran away from Sarah to a far place. The angel of the Lord told her that God has heard her affliction (v11).

1.      Even today God knows your pain and affliction that you are going through in your life because of the terrible situation that you are facing or because of someone who is dealing with you harshly.

But then the Angel of the Lord asked Hagar to go back and be submissive to her mistress Sarah. If you see in a human perspective the word that came from the Lord to Hagar through the Angel was a tough one. How come God can ask her to go back and be submissive to the one who has dealt harshly with her?

2.      Even in your life someone around you might be dealing with you harshly. But if God asks you to be submissive, obey God and be submissive to those who are dealing with you harshly.

God asked and Hagar simply obeyed God’s word without any argument. She had returned back to Sarah and submitted herself to her through which she actually had submitted her life to God’s plan and God multiplied her descendants as He promised her.

3.      God has a plan about your life. Today you may not understand that and it might be against your wish and will. But if you obey to God’s voice and plan, surely you will multiply and your life will be filled with God’s richest blessings exceedingly.

GHG SHORT DEVOTIONALS - 5 (GOD HAS CALLED YOU TO DO GREATER THINGS)

Matthew 17:27 (NKJV) "... go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And when you have opened its mouth, you will find a piece of money; take that and give it to them for Me and you."

Jesus said this to Peter who is a professional fisherman. Peter knew from his experience that it's impossible to get money out of a fish, that too from the first fish that he is going to catch. But yet he had put his experience behind and obeyed Jesus without any argument. He became the first man in the history of fishery to find money in the fish mouth.

1. You are called to do greater things for God...things that cannot not be understood through your experience or human mind. But when God calls you for that, just obey.

2. God has promised you already so many blessings and today the situation might not be supportive to God's word but God says that His promises will be fulfilled in your life.

It's not Peter who had catch the exact fish with money. It's God who had put the money inside a fish and ordained it in such a way that it falls into the Peter's hook. Peter just went according to God's word and the rest was taken care by God.

3. Even in your life God has already prepared every blessing for you. All you have to do is to stay in His will. Then He will lead you to those blessings and you will see greater things in your life. God will take care of everything in your life.

RELATION & RELATIONSHIPS - 18 (DO NOT SPEAK UNNECESSARY WORDS THAT HURT AND MOCK OTHERS)

Recently one of my colleague got engaged. Actually she was the only one lady colleague of mine who was not married yet. At some instances we worked together in a group and so whenever we cross by in our work place, we used to make fun of each other. She is a jovial girl and so we could able to crack jokes at each other without any hurt. Once I heard that she got engaged, I was so happy for her as I know that she was praying for marriage a lot. One day when we were at the end of the day, I met her at the exit and I asked her for a treat. Immediately the other colleague near to me named a big hotel and asked for a treat in that hotel. At that moment I thought of cracking a joke conveying that she will be a cross to her husband but because of hurry I told my other colleague why you are asking her a treat when someone (her husband) life is getting destroyed. She knew that I am pulling her legs and she wanted to reply something but as there were some crowd, she smiled and went.

As I waved her goodbye and turned back, I felt so much of sadness in my Spirit. Then Holy Spirit told me that I should not have used that word ‘destroy’ as it would hurt someone especially when they are going to start a new life. I felt so bad about it and immediately asked her sorry about what I said. She accepted my apology and by God’s grace nothing happened in our relationship.

Again yesterday I was returning home with my dad and mother in our car. As I was talking to my mother, I was telling her about the cost of pampers that I buy for my little daughter. We were talking about that for few minutes and suddenly my dad who is 65 years old asked what we mean by pampers. I respect my dad a lot but at that moment I began to laugh and funnily said it’s a toy.  The moment those words came out of my mouth I knew I made a terrible mistake.

Holy Spirit rebuked me for what I spoke as He reminded me saying that my dad taught me a lot from my childhood to this age and how could I make fun of him in such a way. I knew I should not have done that but at the moment of hurry those words came out of my mouth which actually made God sad. Then I told my dad what is pampers patiently. My dad was not hurt but I should have avoided those humiliating words.

Many a times in our life, we speak certain words out of hurry without thinking much which might hurt other people and that’s lead to the break in relationship. When we speak to others even if they are our loved ones, we should not take them granted. We should not mock at other person and also we should not humiliate others by our words.

Bible says in Proverbs 10:19, In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise."

My dear young friends, guard your lips from speaking unnecessary words that hurt loved ones and break wonderful relationships. May God give His grace to you to speak wisely.
