GHG SHORT DEVOTIONALS - 34 (TALK TO GOD ABOUT WHAT YOU FEEL)

So she said to Abram, “The Lord has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my slave; perhaps I can build a family through her.” Abram agreed to what Sarai said - Genesis 16:2

 

1.     Do not try to open the door which God has closed in your life.

Sarai felt that the Lord has restrained her from having children. So, she thought that she can build her family through her slave and told Abram about it. He also agreed. That led to the beginning of a wild generation.

Sometimes in our lives when we feel certain doors are closed by God, we should be careful not to open it by our own self. It might be in a relationship, job, studies or any other blessings. If God closes a door do not try to open it.

2.     Talk or Fight with God.

Sarai felt that the Lord has stopped a blessing from her life. Then she should have gone to God’s presence and spoke about it to Him. Instead she went and talked with her husband which led to a blunder.

When God rejected the offering of Cain, He came to him and spoke about the anger that he had. But Cain never replied to God and he went and spoke to his brother which ended up in murder. (Genesis 4:5-8)

When you feel God is not doing justice in your life or to you, speak to God and never speak to men or your loved ones.

3.     Get the detail from God when He promises you certain things. Find what God wants you to do.

And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.”- Genesis 15:4

God clearly said to Abraham that through him directly his heir will come. Before agreeing to what Sarah said, he should have gone to God’s presence and asked God through whom he will get the heir. Through Sarah or Hagar? If he would have asked like that, God would have definitely told him that his heir will come through his wife Sarah and not Hagar. But then Abraham never did that and agreed to what his wife said rather than finding what God wants him to do.

If God has promised you certain things surely, He will fulfil it in His own time. You don’t try to help God in anyways except yielding and trusting in Him. Do not heed to the voice of men but listen to what God says. You will be comforted by God’s word and He will keep His eyes upon you and will lead you.
