QUOTES ON TOP

“I want something really worthwhile to live for. I want to invest this one life of mine as wisely as possible, in the place that yields the richest profits to the world and me…wherever it is, I want it to be God’s choice for me and not my own… Christ said, “He that would find his life shall lose it” and proved the truth of this divine paradox at Calvary. I want Him to lead me and His Holy Spirit to fill me.” – Betty Stam

I AM STANDING LORD - A WONDERFUL POEM WRITTEN BY BETTY SCOTT STAM

I'm standing, Lord: There is a mist that blinds my sight.
Steep, jagged rocks, front, left and right,
Lower, dim, gigantic, in the night.
Where is the way?

I'm standing, Lord:
The black rock hems me in behind,
Above my head a moaning wind
Chills and oppresses heart and mind.
I am afraid!

I'm standing, Lord:
The rock is hard beneath my feet; I nearly slipped, Lord, on the sleet.
So weary, Lord! and where a seat?
Still must I stand?

He answered me, and on His face
A look ineffable of grace,
Of perfect, understanding love,
Which all my murmuring did remove.

I'm standing, Lord:
Since Thou hast spoken, Lord, I see
Thou hast beset-these rocks are Thee!
And since Thy love encloses me,
I stand and sing.

JUDGE NOT - AN INSPIRATIONAL POEM (AUTHOR UNKNOWN)

I was shocked, confused, bewildered
as I entered Heaven's door,
Not by the beauty of it all,
by the lights or its decor.

But it was the folks in Heaven
who made me sputter and gasp--
the thieves, the liars, the sinners,
the alcoholics, the trash.

There stood the kid from seventh grade
who swiped my lunch money twice.
Next to him was my old neighbor
who never said anything nice.

Herb, who I always thought
was rotting away in hell,
was sitting pretty on cloud nine,
looking incredibly well.

I nudged Jesus, "What's the deal?
I would love to hear Your take.
How'd all these sinners get up here?
God must've made a mistake.

And why's everyone so quiet,
so somber? Give me a clue."
"Hush, child," said He. "They're all in shock.
No one thought they'd see you."

Judge NOT...

SLEEP - AN INSPIRATIONAL TOUCHING POEM FROM "VALLEY OF VISIONS"

Blessed Creator,
Thou hast promised Thy beloved sleep;
Give me restoring rest needful for tomorrow’s toil.
If dreams be mine, let them not be tinged with evil.

Let Thy Spirit make my time of repose a blessed temple of His holy presence.
May my frequent lying down make me familiar with death,
the bed I approach remind me of the grave,
the eyes I now close picture to me their final closing.

Keep me always ready, waiting for admittance to Thy presence.
Weaken my attachment to earthly things.
May I hold life loosely in my hand,
knowing that I receive it on condition of its surrender. …

I retire this night in full assurance of one day awaking with Thee.
All glory for this precious hope,
for the gospel of grace,
for Thine unspeakable gift of Jesus,
for the fellowship of the Trinity.

Withhold not Thy mercies in the night season;
Thy hand never wearies,
Thy power needs no response,
Thine eye never sleeps.
Help me when I helpless lie. …
when my conscience accuses me of sin,
when my mind is harassed by foreboding thoughts,
when my eyes are held awake by personal anxieties.
Show Thyself to me as the God of all grace, love and power. …
Permit me to commit myself to Thee awake or asleep.

PRAYERFUL WORDS OF ELIZABETH JIM ELLIOT THAT TOUCHED MY HEART RECENTLY

Perhaps some future day, Lord,
Thy strong hand will lead me to the place
Where I must stand utterly alone;
Alone, Oh gracious Lover, but for Thee.

I shall be satisfied if I can see Jesus only.
I do not know Thy plan for years to come.
My spirit finds in Thee its perfect home: sufficiency.
Lord, all my desire is before Thee now.
Lead on no matter where, no matter how,
I trust in Thee.

LET INFINITE WISDOM PREVAIL - NICE POEM BY RUTH BELL GRAHAM

Had I been Joseph’s mother
I’d have prayed
protection from his brothers:
“God keep him safe;
he is so young,
so different from
the others.”
Mercifully she never knew
there would be slavery
and prison, too.

Had I been Moses’ mother
I’d have wept
to keep my little son;
praying she might forget
the babe drawn from the water
of the Nile,
had I not kept
him for her
nursing him the while?
Was he not mine
and she
but Pharaoh’s daughter?…

Had I been Mary –
Oh, had I been she,
I would have cried
as never a mother cried,
“…Anything, O God,
anything…
but crucified!”
With such prayers
importunate
my finite wisdom
would assail
Infinite Wisdom;
God, how fortunate
Infinite Wisdom
should prevail!

THE FULLNESS OF SACRIFICE - A POEM WRITTEN BY SOMEONE WHOM I KNEW BEFORE

Then commenced the feast of the unleavened bread
Where, you My Lord, the Father’s Passover lamb
Prepared yourself and your children for you to be sacrificed
Given as a guilt offering to remove the stains of Mankind.

God’s Beloved, you saw the faces of all the twelve
Your heart pained because it knew each one will forsake, betray you
Still with a love that overflowed immeasurably for those of yours
You gently took the bread and broke it.

When the bread was broken so did your fragile heart
At the thought that all will be scattered in various direction
Leaving you solitary to walk through that agonizing pain
Where your flesh had to be torn to stitch God’s love with Man

With a heavy heart you took the cup of wine
Offered it to them saying, ”This is My blood of the covenant,
Poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins,
If it’s not this way to save then there is no other!”

The time came for the scripture to be fulfilled
Was so very near where on you were laid the sins of all
Your crushed heart wept as your eyes fell on Judas, the betrayer
You cried saying, ”It would have been better if you would have never born”.

There close to you was Simon, you dearly loved!
Who was going to disown you later, sometime?
Yet you saw him as a father sees His weak son
Like a shepherd going to lay His life for His sheep.

Excruciating pain, a disturbed mind, full of inexplicable anxiety
Filled you, My Lord yet you never expressed it to them
For you shared your joy with many and carried the burden alone
The state of your heart who can comprehend the burden at that moment.

Focused was your mind to fulfill the Father’s will,
Oh unblemished Lamb, to carry the cross & shed your precious blood
Though the pain was overwhelming within your heart and soul
Your mind was steadfast in fulfilling your Father’s purpose.

Lord! If it wasn’t your sacrifice on that cross,
Where would I have been be now?
You gave the fullness of yours Lord!
To redeem an unworthy slave like me
And give meaning to my life…

IN POTTER'S HAND - A NICE POEM WRITTEN BY SOMEONE I KNOW

Though I am useless miry clay
Yet I am still in My Master’s Hands
Though others look down and scorn seeing me
But still I rest in My Saviors Hand.

I may not glitter like the purest of gold
Or reveal the radiance like refined silver
Even though I may not posses even a polished texture
I still remain in My Potter’s hand

My Master never grows fatigue while working on me
Neither does He get fed up with useless clay like me
Day and Night He toils and works endlessly
To make me as His own precious masterpiece.

There are painful scrubbing & Tormenting fire
Many a time I fell and scream to retire
Still He smiles and says, “Not yet my dear still more to go!”
And continues His diligent work of molding me.

One day I will turn to be my Master’s Beautiful work piece
Reflecting all that He planned and desired of me.
That moment I always long for.
To see My Savior delight fully in me!
