GHG SHORT DEVOTIONALS - 37 (GOD WILL RAISE YOU UP)

“…could in no way raise herself up.” – Luke 13:11

In this verse Bible talks about a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years and was bent over. Bible says she could in no way raise herself up. One day Jesus saw her and called her to Him. He laid His hands upon her and immediately she was made straight. 

1.     Nothing is impossible with God.

Her problem was a huge one for her as she was bent over for eighteen long years. But then Jesus healed her in a moment. Her sorrow and agony were gone in a moment when Jesus touched her. “Your years of waiting and longing will be soon over”, says God to you as nothing is impossible with Him. He will do wonders in a moment and will bring joy into your life.

2.     Not by Might nor by Power, but by God’s Spirit it will happen.

She was bent over and she could in no way raise herself up. Her might and power could not help her at all. But God healed her.

When Joseph was in prison, he sought the help of a cupbearer to get out of the place. Bible says that cupbearer forgot him until God interfered. Pharaoh said to his servants that the Spirit of God is in Joseph and he gave him the entire control over Egypt. Joseph rose to power not through his might but by God’s Spirit. 

3.     You will be set free from the bondage you are in.

“So ought not this woman… whom Satan has bound…be loosed from this bond…?" - Luke 13:16

Jesus healed that woman as He wanted to set her free from the bondage she was in for eighteen years.

Even today Jesus Christ longs to set you free from the bondage of sins, worries and pain that you are in. He will set you free. You will not be bent over again because of your guilt and sorrow. Your head will be raised. 

All you have to do is just go and stand before God in prayer. He will look at you and He will do great things in your life. Your sorrows will turn to joy.

WAIT FOR GOD. YOU WILL SEE WONDERS IN YOUR LIFE

“Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you; And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him.” – Isaiah 30:18

There lived a young girl who accepted Christ as her savior during her young age. She had put her trust upon God and began to grow in Him. Days passed and as her parents decided to find a suitable life partner for her, she preferred to marry a person who was born again. So, she decided to wait for God’s time. Many other proposals came from those who never accepted Christ. But she rejected all the proposals. Even few from her close relatives wanted to marry her but she had never accepted it.

As she crossed 30 years of age, many mocked at her and made fun of her. But then she stood firm in her faith. God honored her faith and brought a suitable groom for her. She got married when she was 32 and today she was happily living with her husband and God has blessed her with two kids. As she had kept her trust upon God and as she had wait for Him, God built her family.

“And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both well advanced in years."  - Luke 1:6,7

Zacharias and Elizabeth lived righteously before God but they had no child. Years passed but they had not received any answers to their prayers. They continued the righteous life by having faith upon God and lived a blameless life before God. As they had wait for God, they were not put to shame.

One day God’s angel came and met Zacharias as he was serving as priest before God and said, “… Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.” – Luke 1:13

Elizabeth went through reproach. God changed her life’s situation and gave her a son. She became the mother of John, the Baptist. God lifted her head.

He will do the same to you. Today you might be going through reproach and shame. God will surely remove all your sorrows and pain as you wait for Him. He will do wonders in your life at His time.

You might be waiting long to have a child. You might be waiting for marriage. You might be expecting certain blessings in your life. Do not get discouraged. Just wait for God. You are going to experience wonders says God to you. 

GHG SHORT DEVOTIONALS - 36 (GOD'S SEED REMAINS IN YOU AND HE WILL BLESS YOU)

“And God was with the lad and he grew..." - Genesis 21:20

a)     Who is he?

In this verse, Bible talks about Ishmael, the son of Hagar, an Egyptian maid. Bible records that God was with him.

b)    What was God’s promise concerning Ishmael?

“Yet I will also make a nation of the son of the bondwoman..." - Genesis 21:13

c)     Why God has to be with and bless the son of an Egyptian maid?

God gives a reason to Abraham. God says, “…because he is your seed" - Genesis 21:13

God’s calling was upon Abraham and He blessed him richly. In the plan that God had for Abraham there was no place for Hagar. But then Hagar gave birth to Ishmael and he was the seed of Abraham. God never saw Ishmael as the son of an Egyptian maid but He looked at him as Abraham’s seed. So God promised him that he will multiply and will be a nation.

It all happened because God gave so much importance to the seed of Abraham, a chosen one.

d)    Who are you?

“Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him..." - 1 John 3:9

As you are born of God, you carry God’s seed. His seed remains in you.

If God could remember the seed of a chosen one and bless someone richly who is not at all in His plan, how much more God will remember and bless you, in whom His own seed remains and upon whom He has greater plans!

He cares for you even today and He will never forget you as you are His seed. He has plans to prosper you. He will multiply you and bless you. He will never forsake you. You will be blessed.
