Few months back I had read news
about a person who had committed a murder. Actually he married a girl in the
year 1999. After one year of his marriage he took that girl to a lonely place
in that village and killed her. Then he threw her body into a deep well which
was not at all in use. He returned back to his village and told everyone that
his wife ran away with someone. Everyone in that village believed him. He did
another marriage and moved on in his life. But to everyone surprise in the year
2010, he went to the heads of that village and told them that he murdered his
wife.
No one knows that his wife was
murdered and her body was not at all recovered. But yet after ten years he went
and confessed that he murdered his wife. The heads of that village asked him
the reason for his confession. He told them that he could not bear the guilt
that was torturing him day and night for the past ten years.
This was a true incident that
happened in India. That man suffered for ten years with guilt for he does not
know the way to come out of it.

Few days back I met a girl who had
the same problem of guilt. She did some mistake in her college days that
tortured her so much. When I met her she was in a depressed state thinking
about her past failures. She went to Spiritual counsellors for counselling but
yet she could not come out of her guilt. I asked her whether she took her
problem to Jesus Christ in prayer. She said no and then I ask her to pour out
her feeling to God in prayer that night. She went to the presence of God that
night and poured out all her weakness, mistakes and guilt feeling in His feet.
Jesus Christ heard her prayer and gave her a peace which she had never
experienced before. The next morning she came to me happily and said that God
had given her peace and joy. She also said that her guilt feeling was gone as God
has forgiven her sins and filled her heart with His peace.
Jesus Christ says in
Matthew 11:28, “Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give
you rest.”
You might labouring hard because of
your past mistakes and wrong deeds. You might be heavily burdened because of
the guilt that tortures you. Do not get discouraged. Jesus Christ calls you
today. Go to Him. He will forgive all your sins and He will remove the guilt
feeling from your heart by washing your sins with His blood. His love will
comfort and change you.
In Luke 7:36 to 50, we read about a
sinful woman whose sins were forgiven by Jesus Christ. She went to Jesus Christ
weeping and washed His feet with her tears. Her guilt and burden was so heavy
that she could not speak a word to Jesus Christ. Her heart was heavy and so she
wept. Everyone around her saw her sinful character and behaviour but Jesus
Christ saw her burdened heart. Then He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven. Your
faith has saved you. Go in peace”
She went to Jesus Christ with a
faith in her heart that He will forgive her sins, remove her guilt and give her
peace. Jesus Christ saw her faith and forgave her. He removed her guilt and
gave her His divine peace.
My dear young friends, even today
you might be filled with the burden of guilt. Go to Jesus Christ in faith. He
will help you. He will remove the guilt and all that burdens you. He will
forgive your sins and will give you His peace. You will live.
