“The Angel of the Lord said
to her, “Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hand.” –
Genesis 16:9
Hagar despised Sarah when she became
pregnant, and so Sarah begun to dealt with her harshly. Though Hagar was
pregnant, she ran away from Sarah to a far place. The angel of the Lord told
her that God has heard her affliction (v11).
1. Even today God knows your pain and affliction that you are going through
in your life because of the terrible situation that you are facing or because
of someone who is dealing with you harshly.
But then the Angel of the Lord asked
Hagar to go back and be submissive to her mistress Sarah. If you see in a human
perspective the word that came from the Lord to Hagar through the Angel was a
tough one. How come God can ask her to go back and be submissive to the one who
has dealt harshly with her?
2. Even in your life someone around you might be dealing with you harshly.
But if God asks you to be submissive, obey God and be submissive to those who
are dealing with you harshly.
God asked and Hagar simply obeyed
God’s word without any argument. She had returned back to Sarah and submitted
herself to her through which she actually had submitted her life to God’s plan
and God multiplied her descendants as He promised her.
3. God has a plan about your life. Today you may not understand that and it
might be against your wish and will. But if you obey to God’s voice and plan,
surely you will multiply and your life will be filled with God’s richest
blessings exceedingly.
