LOOKING BACK (WITH THANKS) - 7 (GOD WILL FULFILL YOUR HEART'S DESIRE)

“If I say, ‘My foot slips,’ Your mercy, O Lord, will hold me up. In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul.” – Psalms 94:18, 19.

Once I completed my B.Tech degree in the year 2005, I thought I will join PG degree in the same government college where I completed my B.Tech degree. I prayed and wrote the entrance examination to join PG engineering degree. I failed in that entrance exam. So my parents prayed and decided to put me in a private engineering university.

It was a Christian university and so I was very happy to join there. When I joined there I was so surprised to see a large number of students gathering in an auditorium for Prayer assembly. As I studied there I saw so many people preaching God’s word with authority.

Slowly I got a desire to stand in big auditoriums to preach God’s word. Days passed by. My desire to preach God’s word in big auditoriums increased a lot. There were times I used to go to any one of those auditorium for few functions. 

When I go there, I used to stand in front of the podium and imagine that I was standing and preaching in front of a packed house. I have done that for several times. Then as God started to use me for His glory in small ways, I thought my desire will get fulfilled very soon.

But at one instant I left God and fell in sin. I was away from God for few years and when I recognized that my heart was filled with guilt. God gave His grace to me and removed the guilt from my heart. Again the path of God’s will seemed so difficult for me. It took few more years to get back to God’s will.

Likewise I wasted so many years and God was so patient with me throughout those years. He gave me His grace and also the lost blessings. When God started to use me again in few village churches and in a prayer centre, I thought God will open a way for me to speak in the auditorium also.

But it never happened. Though I know I was the reason for not getting an opportunity to speak in those auditoriums, I had a great longing in my heart to speak there. I prayed several times to God to open the closed doors and give me an opportunity to share His word. 

I wanted everything to happen so fast. But God was so patient. I thought I will never get an opportunity to preach in auditoriums. When those thoughts came into my mind it had hurt me a lot because that was my desire and longing for so many years.

God had different plans. Recently Jesus Christ made me to stand and preach in a packed auditorium. I know for sure that I am not worthy at all. I am not a great preacher but Jesus Christ made it possible through His grace. He started to fulfil my desire and longing that I had carried in my heart for so many years and I believe that He will use me for His glory in the coming days also.

I looked back at my past and felt sad but Jesus Christ had never looked back at my past. My dear young friends, Jesus Christ always look at the plan that He has for you and not your past days. 

As I look back, from the bottom of my heart I thank God for fulfilling my heart’s desire and longing.

THE WALL - 27

ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER AND BUILD EACH OTHER

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up...” – 1 Thessalonians 5:11

As I wrote in the previous article, when I saw the large group of people going as foot pilgrimages one thing surprised me a lot. Most of them never carried even a water bottle. I wondered how they will manage without water as they walk so many miles. 

I found the answer very soon. As I was travelling, I saw few people in a particular area put up a stall to give juices for those who walk to that temple city. I could see stalls like this at regular intervals of distance. 

Few idol temples arranged for small Tiffin with hot coffee for those who travel through their way as foot pilgrimages. One such temple has put several chairs in front of their place for the pilgrims to take rest for a short time. When I saw all the arrangements that have been done by several other people I was surprised to see their unity.

The pilgrims were going to see a false idol which they think were God but even in that journey they were supported by so many people and so many organizations. 

We have to analyze ourselves that how we are encouraging our fellow believer to grow in Christ. We meet someone who is struggling to grow in Spiritual life. What we are doing in such situations? Instead of encouraging them, we point out their mistakes and increase their guilt feelings. 

They know their mistakes and the way they committed the wrong thing. They also knew that they are struggling. All they need is encouraging words, prayer and the way to come out. Do you encourage a fellow believer who is struggling? Do you provide the needs of your fellow believer when you find him wanting?

I have seen several churches coming against other churches. People from one particular denomination were speaking against those in other denominations. If we do like this how we will see revival in our nations? We ourselves put us in trouble and then we say that we are facing trials and bad days. Today God wants us to come out of all this things. He wants to send revival but we are the ones who are stopping that. We are accountable for several thousand souls who go like this as foot pilgrims seeking idols. 

If we do not rise for our living God then who will rise? If we have to glorify God through our lives, we should learn to encourage one another and love one another. Encourage your fellow believer to grow in God. Share Gospel with others. Love others even as they are weak. God will use you for His glory.

LOVE GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND HE WILL COME TO YOU

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength." - Deuteronomy 6:5

Day before yesterday I was travelling in a bus returning back to my place. It was a long journey of nearly 400Kms. As I was travelling during the day time I felt so tired. On the way bus reached a city which is popular for a particular temple. From that place I have to travel more than 100Kms and even in bus I felt it was a very long journey. 

Yesterday as I was going to my work place, I found a large group of people getting ready to go to that particular temple city as foot pilgrimages. I could not believe that at all. The distance from my workplace to that temple city was 125Kms. I could not sit in the bus itself for that much distance. But these people were walking to that city just to worship an idol.

When I returned from my work place at that night, I could see hundreds of people walking in the side of the road with so much happiness to that city. I do not know how many days it will take them to travel by feet to that city. But they were so happy about what they are doing. 

To worship an idol they are walking several kilometres with so much joy and happiness. Our God is a living God who never asks us to walk such distance to worship Him. 

All He asks us to do is to love Him with all our heart, mind, soul and strength. Do we love our God with all our heart? Do we go to church with so much of happiness or do we go to church just for the sake of going?

Your love upon God should be far greater than those who love an idol. Do we love our God more than the way they do?

You are worshipping a living God. Today Jesus Christ wants you to love Him truly with all your heart. He wants you to do His will alone in your life. He wants you to glorify Him through your life. He wants you to set aside everything and come to Him leaving all the worldly pleasures. 

Jesus Christ said in John 14:23, “...If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.”

If you say that you love God, you have to keep His word. You should do what He asks you to do. You should give your life into His hands. 

My dear young friends, love God with all your heart. If you do so, He will come to you and He will bless you abundantly. Surrender your life to Him completely. Jesus Christ will do mighty things through your life.

FEAR NOT. GOD IS WITH YOU

“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10

I know a young guy who is like a younger brother to me. He was a believer and always filled with the thirst to do something for God. Recently he went to Nigeria to attend a Christian conference. It was his first trip abroad. His travelling fare and stay was taken care by the people who were conducting the conference. He went with so much of expectations. Everything went well and the conference days got over. As he tried to book a return ticket immediately after the conference, he could not book a ticket.

So he decided to stay few more days. Most of the people who attended returned back to their places and so he stayed with only few people. On a particular night, he got a dream in which few people tried to kill him and finally succeeded. Once he woke up from the sleep, his heart was filled with fear and he could not come out of the dream thoughts. 

He wanted to tell the dream to someone but as he doesn’t know anyone there, he kept everything in his heart itself. As he was frightened, he went to attend a prayer meet there. Nearly 5 people gathered for prayer and as the prayer was going on, God spoke to him through the person who was praying at that time. 

God revealed the entire dream to the one who was praying and then God spoke to him saying, “Fear not, I am with you.” When he heard the entire dream revealed by God to someone who doesn’t know that at all, he got astonished and at the same time God’s promise comforted him a lot. Immediately the fear that gripped him went away and he returned to India in peace. 

Even today you might be filled with a great fear about your future. You might fear that you will lose everything in your life. Do not worry. Today Jesus Christ promises you that He is with you and He will strengthen you.

God is with you. He will strengthen you. He will help you and uphold you. What a blessing! He will be with you and do all things that you need in your life. He will take care of your job. He will take care of your studies and research. He will take care of your family life. In everything, God will help you by giving you His strength. You will not fail because God is with you. 

My dear young friends, do not get discouraged. Do not fear about your future. Your future will be filled with God’s blessings. Jesus Christ is with you. He will guard you and protect you. He will bless you richly. He will show the way in which you should walk and He will fill you with His wisdom. He will never leave you. You will be led by God.
