“...Let the children
come to me and do not hinder them...” – Mark 10:14
When Abraham was old, God gave him a
son and he named him Isaac. Abraham grew very old and the Lord had blessed him
in every way. He had all the riches and blessings. As he grew old he wanted to
find a girl for his son. Though he had so many things in his life, he had
chosen a girl for his son in a careful manner.
We can read about that in Genesis
24. Abraham knew that he has to entrust the responsibility to find a wife for
Isaac to a trustworthy person. So he carefully picked the one. He called the
senior servant who is the in-charge of all that he had and asked him to find a
wife for Isaac.
Abraham’s choice was right and his
servant found Rebekah as wife of Isaac. Isaac was comforted through Rebekah
after his mother’s death. Abraham did a right thing for his son.
When you have to choose something
for your child, you have to make sure that it will be good for them and it will
not hinder them to come to God.
Few days back I was watching a
special program about mothers. A woman said that they were from a middle class
family so she has to go to work even after her child was born. Though her
husband was working she also went to work to provide for the family. So they
found a servant to look after her little child. For a few days everything was
going normal.
After that she found out that her
servant was addicted to TV serials(dramas). Since the servant was very fond to
watch TV serials, she taught that little child also to watch those serials so
that she won’t be disturbed during that time.
One day the mother got leave and so
she stayed at home. The little child was watching her mother at the specific
time in which she usually goes for the job. But as she had leave, she stayed
even after that usual time. So the child came to the mother and asked her when
she will leave since the child knew that the mother will not allow anyone to
watch serials and movies.
As the child was forcing the mother
to leave, she clearly understood the problem and later found out everything
that was going in her home. When she heard that her little child is getting
addicted to unnecessary things, she felt so sad. She was so worried about her
child’s future because she always wanted to raise her child in a way that
pleases God.
So she prayed to Jesus and asked His
wisdom to take decision. She felt that she has to leave her job so that she can
teach about Bible to her child. She immediately left the job and now she is
staying at her home spending time with her child. She was so happy about the
decision she took even though the family will lack certain amount of income
every month. She was happy because she had chosen a right choice for her child
to be blessed in God.
My dear young friends, when you have
to take a decision regarding your child’s growth, studies, job or family life,
pray to God earnestly. Make sure that your decision will never hinder your son
or daughter to grow in God. Your children soul is more important. So make sure
that your children are moving close to Jesus and not away from Him. God bless
you.
