QUOTES ON TOP

“I want something really worthwhile to live for. I want to invest this one life of mine as wisely as possible, in the place that yields the richest profits to the world and me…wherever it is, I want it to be God’s choice for me and not my own… Christ said, “He that would find his life shall lose it” and proved the truth of this divine paradox at Calvary. I want Him to lead me and His Holy Spirit to fill me.” – Betty Stam

REVEAL JESUS THROUGH YOUR LIFE

Several years ago a preacher moved to Houston, Texas. Some weeks after he arrived, he had occasion to ride the bus from his home to the downtown area. When he sat down, he discovered that the driver had accidentally given him a quarter too much change.

As he considered what to do, he thought to himself, you better give the quarter back. It would be wrong to keep it. Then he thought, "Oh, forget it, it's only a quarter. Who would worry about this little amount? Anyway the bus company already gets too much fare; they will never miss it. Accept it as a gift from God and keep quiet."
When his stop came, he paused momentarily at the door, and then he handed the quarter to the driver and said, "Here, you gave me too much change."

The driver with a smile, replied, "Aren't you the new preacher in town? I have been thinking lately about going to worship somewhere. I just wanted to see what you would do if I gave you too much change."
When the preacher stepped off the bus, he literally grabbed the nearest light pole, and held on, and said, "O God, I almost sold your Son for a quarter."
Our lives are the only Bible some people will ever read.

CALL TO JESUS AND YOU WILL SEE GREAT THINGS - WRITTEN BY A PASTOR WHOM I KNOW

JEREMIAH 33:3 “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know

God is promising you today that if you call to Him, He will answer your prayers and He will show you great and mighty things. The only thing which you have to do is to call Him. If we do that he will do the rest. We cannot do great and mighty things with our efforts since our capacity is limited. But if we do one little thing, you can receive great and mighty things.

For example, let us imagine a big house locked with lots of treasures inside. To enter into the house all you need is a small key. Likewise calling to Jesus is the same way as having a key to a big house filled with treasures. In the same way, I want to show you some of the people from Bible who called Lord Almighty and received great and mighty things from Him.

In II kings 20:5, the king Hezekiah called to the Lord and He answered him. God Himself says the reason why Hezekiah received grace in His sight. Hezekiah witnessed a miracle, because He called unto the Lord. Hezekiah had lots of faith in the power of prayer. Even though the prophet Isaiah prophesised that he will die, Hezekiah went ahead and pleaded with the Lord for mercy. Hezekiah called unto the Lord and God answered him with three things.
1. I will add to your days 15 years.
2. I will deliver you and the city.
3. I will defend the city for My own sake.

In the same way if you pour out your heart to God, He will not only give us what we have asked for but also the things which we never asked and imagined.

If you read Joshua 1:2to11, you can understand that Joshua got a great responsibility from Moses. As soon as he received the responsibility he faced a barrier .That was Jordan. This problem was not only for him but for the whole of Israel. In order to solve the uphill task, Joshua himself called to the Lord. Only after that God said to him that He heard his prayer. Then God told Joshua to ask the Israelites to sanctify themselves so that He will do wonders among them. The victory behind crossing the river Jordan was because Joshua looked up to God for every small things or barrier he faced.

In the book of judges, Samson was an anointed young man but never called unto the Lord or asks the Lord how he could use his strength or manifest his powers. After he lost all his strength in the end, only then he look up to the Lord. Even then God answered his prayer but it was too late. Samson lost his life.

But Elisha, after receiving the shawl from Elijah ( II kings 2;14) looked up to God asking him to help him cross the Jordan and start his prophetic ministry. His ministry was victorious and was more powerful than his master Elijah because he started it looking unto the mighty presence of God.

In Gethsemane, Jesus faced the soldiers who have come to take Him captive. The reason for Jesus boldness was because He had prayed that night earnestly. But disciples ran away and hid themselves because they slept.

My dear young friend, even today you might face a barrier like Jordan in your life or you might face a threatening situation which you think will take your life away. Remember, if you call to Jesus Christ today, He is faithful enough to help you and to do great and mighty things in your life. You have a God who can change your life for good. Look to Him and Call unto Him.

Psalmist says in Psalms 123:1,2 “Unto You I lift up my eyes,
O You who dwell in the heavens. Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the
Lord our God, Until He has mercy on us.”

Let your eyes also look to God so that He will bless you with great and mighty things which you have never imagined. God bless you.

HOW TO BE A GODLY EMPLOYEE?(BASED ON TEN COMMANDMENTS) - AUTHOR UNKNOWN

1.      Trust in God only.

Trust in no one but GOD. People will disappoint you. God created you and has a wonderful plan for your life. He is too good to do wrong, and too wise to make a mistake. Let His peace abide in you.
(Proverbs 3:5-6)

2.      Worship God only.

Don't make your career, your company, or your boss a god. If you do, you will provoke Him to jealously and will end up fighting Him. In fact, He may hinder you from achieving what you want until you are broken of the idolatry.
(Exodus 20:5)

Use God's Name Reverently.

Don't swear!! Clean words come out of a clean heart! If your co-workers know that you are a Christian, but they hear the Lord's Name used in vain, or cursing and swearing from your mouth, you will give the appearance of being a hypocrite.
(Matthew 15:17-19)

Work Six Days and Rest on the Seventh.

Before you beg for more vacation time, ask yourself a few questions, "Do you honor the Sabbath?" God has already given you 52 days of time off that equates to seven weeks. "Are your expectations for work, vacation, and retirement realistic?" By resting one day a week, you can avoid burnout.
(Genesis 3:17-19)

Respect and Obey Your Boss.

You should respect and obey your boss, because you don't know what it's like to be in their shoes. Plus, your ultimate boss is the Lord. Serve Him faithfully on the job, and He will bless you. However, if your boss commands you to do something illegal or immoral, you must make a stand and obey God rather than man.
(Ephesians 6:5-8)

Protect and Respect Human Life.

Emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual manipulation, abuses and violence have no place in the workplace... or any place. You do not have the right to use and abuse your boss, co-workers, employees, customers, or suppliers.
 (1 Thessalonians 3:1-2)

Be True to Your Spouse.

If you are not getting the kind of attention that you feel you deserve at home, it's common to seek it with someone at work. Honor your wedding vows by avoiding company romances! They are very tempting, very real, and very common. They are also very wrong and very destructive.
(Matthew 19:8-9)

Do Not Take What Belongs to Others.

Stealing at work can take many forms. You can choose to steal materials, money, time, productivity, and joy from your employer and others. Do not remove your integrity by stealing. (II Corinthians 7:1-2)

Do Not Lie About Others.

Do not fabricate stories about your boss, co-workers, and spread gossip for the sake of company politics. You are here to be the salt and the light, not the pepper and the darkness!! Truth always rises to the surface, and eventually you will be ashamed and rebuked if you lie.
(II Peter 2: 10-13)

Be Satisfied With What You Have.

Contentment doesn't mean that you cannot pursue God-given goals, but it does mean that you are content with what He has provided you with, day after day. Contentment is a rare quality in today's culture, but it is extremely liberating! Materialism, striving for rank, backstabbing, and discontent lead to emotional, mental, financial, and spiritual bondage.
(I Timothy 6:6-11)

NICE THOUGHTS TAKEN FROM THE BOOK, "THE HEAVENLY MAN"

“The Christian life is not glamorous to the flesh. When a little seed is put into the ground it is not comfortable. It lies in the dark isolation of rough soil for months, suffers in the frozen ground of winter and the heat of summer, and is even covered with stinking nature and fertilizer.Only after it has silently endured all these trials is the seed ready to spring to life and produce a harvest that will feed many. When a seed is buried in the ground it has no choice but to wait patiently for God’s time for it to spring to life”.
“We are not called to live by human reason. All that matters is obedience to God’s word and His leading in our lives. If God says go,we will go.If He says stay,we will stay. When we are in His will,we are in the safest place in the world”.
“We are absolutely nothing. We have nothing to be proud about. We have no abilities and nothing to offer God.The fact that He chooses to use us is only due to His Grace. It has nothing to do with us.If God should choose to raise up others for His Purpose and never use us again we would have nothing to complain about”.
“If you give God the right to yourself, He will make a holy experiment out of you. God’s experiments always succeed.”

WHY DON'T WE PRAY? (TAKEN FROM INTERNET)

The highest privilege ever afforded to man is the power of prayer.
...then why don't we pray?

The right to talk to the highest potentate in all the universe...
...then why don't we pray?

The most powerful force accessible to man is the potential of prayer...
...then why don't we pray?

The greatest longing in the heart of God is to talk to His children...
...then why don't we pray?

Nothing is impossible to those who pray...
...then why don't we pray?

No man ever fainted or faltered who gave himself to prayer...
...then why don't we pray?

Every sin is forgiven, every stain is washed clean, all guilt diminished to
the man who prays...
...then why don't we pray?

Hell moves farther away, satan flees from the man who prays...
...then why don't we pray?

Anointing will come, mountains will be moved, valleys made smooth, rivers
made crossable, the inaccessible made accessible, the impossible made
possible, dreams come through to the man who prays...
...then why don't we pray?

Jesus said that men ought always to pray...
...then why don't we pray?

Paul encouraged prayer without ceasing...
...then why don't we pray?

The riches of heaven are open to those who pray in His name...
...then why don't we pray?

Everyone can pray, the young, the old, the rich, the poor, the strong, the
weak, the child, the aged, the sinner, the prisoner, in any nation, in any
language, all can pray...
...then why don't we pray?

YOU HAVE A DREAM....GOD IS NOT AGAINST YOU

Genesis 37:5 “Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more.”
You have a dream. God is not against you. Every good you desired in Christ Jesus is wonderful to Father. There is no human being who can help you to see the fulfillment of your desire. Shift your eyes to Jesus. Take your eyes from human being and shift your eyes to Jesus who is living God. The arm of flesh will fail you. Human effort will fail you. Lots of people are around you but you feel so lonely. You are going through the pit. In the pit there is no one to talk to you and love you. You are going through sad experiences. Even being there in the pit, you dream about the future. You are bound and oppressed by many things. You are filled with Holy Spirit. You know Jesus but yet you are bound to something.
The entire problem you went through in the past years; all the challenges you went through; all the difficulties you went through are not a waste. Jesus has a purpose. For every trouble to trouble to trouble Joseph got closer to closer to good future. No matter what problem you are going through, keep Jesus close to you. Start looking up. From there only your help will come. Jesus will never forget you.
God has a dream about your life. He wants no sin. He wants His Spirit to reside in you. He wants you to inherit heaven after your life in earth. God wants you to surrender your life entirely to Him. Plan in accordance to the will of Jesus and you will prosper.
Your help and strength comes from above. Whatever be the dream, talk to Jesus. Give Him the dream of your heart. Your enemy is not human being, its devil.
Jesus wants to do marvelous things through you and in you. You will not be defeated. Jesus loves you even when everyone hates you.
You may be in the pit, but rejoice. Someone might have told wrong things about you, but rejoice. You might feel like being in a prison, but rejoice. Help is on the way. Jesus is on the way.
Prison cannot hold you again. Sorrow will go. Lord is your strength. He is your savior and He is your provider. Don’t feel like left out. The one who sees you will not sleep or slumber. You will not die in the pit. Don’t give up and don’t get discouraged. Your dream will come to pass says the Lord

YOU ARE MY BELOVED SAYS JESUS CHRIST

My Beloved, before you were born, you were special to Me. I knew you before you were conceived in your mother’s womb. With My own hands I fearfully and wonderfully created very detail that makes you unique. I knit you together – your body, soul and spirit. I saw you long before you ever existed. I watched everyday of your life. So I know you. I know where you have been, where you are, and where you are going.

If only you knew the thoughts I have toward you. Did you know My thoughts outnumber the grains of sand on all the beaches of the world? You are the apple of My eye. When trouble approaches, I hide you in the shadow of My wings. I have even engraved you on the palms of My hands.

It is My love for you that makes you precious and honored in My sight. I not only created you for My glory, I adopted you as My own child. I will never abandon you. So do not fret. Remember – you are My child now. I know you, I love you, I am proud of you, and I will fulfill My purpose for your life. And always remember…. My love upon you endures forever

I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS SAYS JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ says in Matthew 28:20 “…And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

What a wonderful promise that God has given us! My dear young friend, God is with you to give you hope, joy and peace that you are longing for. Whatever situation you may be in, God says to you: “My dear son, I am with you and I will not leave you.” Get encouraged my dear friend.

In a particular village to prove themselves every young man has to spend a night being alone in a deep forest with their eyes tied. It’s a custom followed by those village people. One day a father took his son into the deep forest and left him there in the midst of darkness with his eyes tied. As the midnight approaches, the young boy heard lots of horrible animal sounds which made him to tremble. He felt all alone and he thought that he will surely be harmed by any one of the animals. Somehow he managed to stay in that place throughout that night. But when he opened his eyes in the early morning, he was so surprised to see his father sitting on a rock before him with reddish eyes. He understood that he was not all alone on that particular night and his father watched him throughout the night staying awake.

If a worldly father can do this for a son, how much more our loving God who is faithful in His promises will do for you. He loves you a lot. You might go through a toughest situation in your life at this moment; do not be discouraged. Get encouraged. Your creator who is a loving Father is with you always. He will be with you and guard you. As He is with you, no harm or evil shall overpower you. He will take care of your life. God bless you.

START OVER WITH JESUS - (AUTHOR UNKNOWN)

When you’ve trusted Jesus and walked his way
When you’ve felt his hand lead you day by day
But your steps now take you another way,
start over.

When you’ve made your plans and they’ve gone awry
When you’ve tried your best and there’s no more try
When you’ve failed yourself and you don’t know why,
start over.

When you’ve told your friends what you plan to do
When you’ve trusted them and they didn’t come through
And now you’re all alone and it’s up to you,
start over.

When you’ve prayed to God so you’ll know his will
When you’ve prayed and prayed and you don’t know still
When you want to stop cause you’ve had your fill,
start over.

When you think you’re finished and want to quit
When you’ve bottomed out in life’s deepest pit
When you’ve tried and tried to get out of it,
start over.

When the year has been long and successes few
When December comes and you’re feeling blue
God gives a January just for you,
start over.

Starting over means “Victories Won”
Starting over means “A Race Well Run”
Starting over means “The Lords’ Will Done”
We need not just sit there … START OVER...with JESUS CHRIST.

GOD WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE FOR GOOD (TESTIMONY OF A CANADIAN GIRL)

Early in January of 2004 I came to a crossroad in my life. I was living away from my family and going to college. I began to isolate myself from my friends. I remember lying in bed one night and coming to the realization that if I didn’t do something about my life now, I would lose it. I could see that I was stumbling blindly into more darkness. I decided to pack up my bags and move home to my family. I wanted to begin a search for some meaning in my life.
Choosing to move back home proved to be a smart decision. Living with my family, I stopped using drugs. But I still felt worthless. My mind and heart where filled with regret and guilt. About a month after I had moved home I heard about an upcoming movie about Jesus that was coming to theaters. It was a film surrounded by controversy and I quickly became very interested in seeing it. Something, somewhere was telling me to see this film.
Seeing The Passion of the Christ
It’s interesting to think back, because I actually knew before I went to see this film that it would change my life! Growing up in a non-religious home, Christmas was about Santa Claus and Easter was about the Easter Bunny. I knew very little about the Christian faith and Jesus. I knew that Jesus was crucified but I didnt know why.
In early March I went to see the movie The Passion of the Christ with my parents. I have never experienced emotions like the ones I felt as I watched that movie. I was clenching the arm rest of my chair, sobbing, and shaking. What I was seeing was true and I couldn’t deny the compassion that touched my heart. I saw Jesus for the first time on that screen.
I left the theater stunned, feeling numb, overwhelmed and anxious. My parents wanted to discuss the film but I couldn’t. I didn’t want to talk to anyone. That night, before I went to sleep, I talked to Jesus for the first time. I didnt know how to pray. I didnt know anything about God or religion but I knew when I spoke to Jesus that night I felt this overwhelming sense of peace. I cried and prayed and then fell into a deep, peaceful sleep.
Asking questions about Jesus
The next day I wanted to know everything about Jesus so I went to buy a Bible. I knew that I could find all the answers to my questions in that book. When I purchased my Bible, I asked the store clerk about church. I wanted to know where I should go and what groups I should join. She was kind enough to give me some great suggestions.
I started reading my Bible in the New Testament with the Gospel of Matthew. I powered through it in seven days! Initially, I had so many questions. As I read I found that the questions began answering themselves.
I was browsing a website designed around The Passion movie, and I read an article called “Are you looking for forgiveness?” I certainly was looking for forgiveness! I needed forgiveness from others and forgiveness from myself. Before I read this article, I didn’t believe that I could ever be forgiven. I prayed this prayer for the first time: “God, thank you for what You have done for me. I believe You sent Jesus to die for my sins. I believe Jesus rose again to give me everlasting life. Please forgive me for the wrong things I have done. Please give me a new and clean heart. I invite you into my life. Teach me to do everything You want me to do and to follow You all the days of my life. I pray this believing in what Jesus did for me. Amen.”
Getting to know Jesus
After I prayed these words I felt a quiet, calming sense of peace. In my mind I saw an image of me and Jesus where I was six years old. My long brown hair was braided in two pigtails and Jesus was kneeling down with his arms wrapped tightly around me. He was stroking my hair. I was clinging to him, hugging him and looking up at him as he smiled at me. I knew I had come home!
Before, I had always been on a search for something to fill this empty void in my life. I tried filling it with drugs, alcohol, sex, with whatever I could to get a feeling of pleasure and self-worth. Now Jesus fills that void. After I read the New Testament, and Jesus became the reason and focus of my life, I began to see the world differently. It was as if someone had lifted the veil covering my eyes and I finally understood the truth about what my existence in this life really means.
Faith and freedom
For so long I had thought that Christianity was a means of control, with lots of rules of what you can and can’t do. Yet, it turns out that by giving my life to Jesus the opposite happened and I am finally FREE! I am no longer a slave to sin. Now I have the power to make the right choices for the right reasons, to honour God.
My Dad told me that he had known about my drug use and was watching my life unravel. He had felt so helpless, and at that time he begged for Gods help. He told me that he prayed to God, saying that he would give up anything and everything he owned to have me back to how I used to be. His prayers were answered! Here I was strong and full of joy, speaking about how God had changed my life, full of confidence and love. I was completely transformed. God had answered his prayer tenfold. At that moment he knew that God truly did exist. In a very short time, my parents and my brother have also become followers of Jesus.
Although my spiritual walk with Jesus has been brief, I have complete trust in God. I have exposed my vulnerability and weaknesses in order for God to use me to serve others. I will use my past hurts, struggles and weaknesses to help others as God sees fit. God created me as I am and my history has become part of His purpose. My personality and strengths are a result of His love for me.
Take a look at your life. How would you describe it? Contented? Rushed? Exciting? Stressful? Moving forward? Holding back? For many of us it’s all of the above at times. There are things we dream of doing one day; there are things we wish we could forget. In the Bible, it says that Jesus came to make all things new. What would your life look like if you could start over with a clean slate?
If you are looking for peace, there is a way to balance your life. No-one can be perfect, or have a perfect life. But every one of us has the opportunity to experience perfect grace through a personal relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ.

HAVE YOU EVER TRIED TO SAVE A DROWNING MAN? (TAKEN FROM THE BOOK: SIT WALK & STAND)

Have you ever tried to save a drowning man?

The trouble is that his fear prevents him trusting himself to you. When that is so, there are just two ways of going about it. Either you must knock him unconscious and then drag him to the shore, or else you must leave him to struggle and shout until his strength gives way before you go to his rescue. If you try to save him while he has any strength left, he will clutch at you in his terror and drag you under and both he and you will be lost.

God is waiting for your store of strength to be utterly exhausted before he can deliver you. Once you have ceased to struggle, he will do everything. God is waiting for you to despair.

My dear young friend, when we arrive at the end of our own strength it is not defeat, but the start of tapping into God’s boundless resources. It is when we are weak that we are strong in God. Stop trying with your own self. Trust in God and surrender yourself to God for He will take care of you.
