QUOTES ON TOP

“I want something really worthwhile to live for. I want to invest this one life of mine as wisely as possible, in the place that yields the richest profits to the world and me…wherever it is, I want it to be God’s choice for me and not my own… Christ said, “He that would find his life shall lose it” and proved the truth of this divine paradox at Calvary. I want Him to lead me and His Holy Spirit to fill me.” – Betty Stam

DO NOT FIGHT WITH GOD FOR YOUR OWN DESIRE

“Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth.” – Deuteronomy 28:1

In 1 Samuel 15th Chapter we read that God asked Saul to utterly destroy the Amalekites. God wants Saul to kill everything and every one of Amalekites. The commandment was clearly given by God to Saul through Samuel the prophet. But Saul and his men failed to obey God completely. They were not willing to utterly destroy everything and spared all that was good. But they destroyed everything that was worthless.

Saul failed to obey God and so God’s anger came upon him. God rejected Saul as king. God says in 1 Samuel 15:11, “I greatly regret that I have set up Saul as king, for he has turned back from following Me, and has not performed My commandments...”

Because Saul disobeyed God he lost all his blessings and died miserably.

Recently I heard a testimony from a woman who is currently working in a good position in a particular organization. Once she completed her schooling she got admitted in an Engineering college. During the years of her study as first year was common for everyone she had no option to choose her branch. But at the beginning of the second year she was allowed to choose her course of study.

She had scored good marks and so she preferred ECE as first choice, EEE as second choice and Civil as third choice. She was so sure that she will get her first choice preference because of her good marks. But the next day she found out that she was given the third choice and was asked to go to the Civil department class. As she was so disappointed she cried for the whole day without going to the department.

The same evening she insisted her father to talk to the higher authority of that institution the very next day so that she can get her first choice. His father agreed to her request as he knew one of the higher authorities of that particular institution.

The next day morning she was happy as she knew that her father will come and speak for her. As she happily came out of her home, she heard a voice of a preacher who was preaching in a radio program and through him God said, “I will give you what you want but later don’t ask me why I gave you that.”

She was touched by that word and she knew that studying Civil Engineering was God’s choice in her life and so she immediately surrendered her life to God saying she will continue her study in that branch itself.

God blessed her abundantly and she said that she has completed her doctorate degree before 30 years of age and she became a Principal of an institution at an age of 31. Even today she is working as a head of the department in a particular institution. God has set her high because she obeyed God and set aside her own desire.

My dear young friends, even today if you set aside your own desire and accept God’s will in your life and obey His word, He will set you high. Jesus Christ will bless you richly and He will reward you. Do not go on your own way and do not fight with God for your own desire. Obey God and you will be blessed.
