QUOTES ON TOP

“I want something really worthwhile to live for. I want to invest this one life of mine as wisely as possible, in the place that yields the richest profits to the world and me…wherever it is, I want it to be God’s choice for me and not my own… Christ said, “He that would find his life shall lose it” and proved the truth of this divine paradox at Calvary. I want Him to lead me and His Holy Spirit to fill me.” – Betty Stam

SWEET MARRIAGE - 9 (TAKE PART IN THE JOY OF YOUR SPOUSE)

“Now as the ark of the Lord came into the City of David, Michal, Saul’s daughter, looked through a window and saw King David leaping and whirling before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart." - 2 Samuel 6:16

King David gathered nearly thirty thousand men and led them to a city in Judah to bring the Ark (Covenant Box) of God. As they were returning with the Ark of God, King David danced along with the other Israelites. In between they faced a problem and so they took it to the house of Obed Edom.

After three months, King David heard that the Lord has blessed Obed Edom and his family because of the Ark of God. So King David decided to bring back the Ark of God to his place. As he went and brought back the Ark of God, he danced and jumped with joy. Michal, David’s wife saw him dancing and Bible says that she despised him and was disgusted with him.

Once they brought the Ark of God to the tent which David had set up for it, David blessed all the people in the name of the Lord. Then David returned to bless his family people. But Michal came out and told David that he exposed himself like a fool in the sight of the servant women of his officials.

Here we see a situation where the husband was returning home with joy and gladness to bless his household but his wife comes and tells him that he was like a fool.

David was doing everything to honour God and he was so happy about it. He knew that if he brought back the Ark of God to his place, his people will be blessed and his family also will be blessed by God. When he had done that he felt so happy but yet Michal, the wife of David could not take part in the joy of her own husband. She could not understand his heart’s desire and so she felt disgusted and despised him.

What Michal did was not pleasing in the sight of the God. Bible says in 2 Samuel 6:23, “Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no children to the day of her death.

Michal despised her husband and his joy filled intention and she remained barren throughout her life. One incident made her to suffer all through her life.

My dear young friends, you should be careful when you speak to your spouse. . Also be careful about the words you speak against your spouse. Your words might not provoke the anger of your spouse but it might provoke the anger of God. When they do something to honour God, you should not stand against them. If you do so, God will stand against you. Your spouse will get his/her blessing for the way they honour God but you might remain unblessed. Do not be like Michal who despised her own husband.

Your spouse might feel happy about certain things that happen in their workplace or in any relationship. When they come and share it with you, you should also take part in their joy. Then your marriage relationship will stay intact.

Stand along with your spouse when they honour God. Share their joy when they feel happy about anything. Never despise your spouse Your marriage relationship will be blessed by God.
